This two day programme offers a guided climb of Mount Fuji. After a long hike on the first day, you can enjoy a hot meal and a few hours rest, before continuing the climb to the summit in time for sunrise.
Day 1 Ascent of Mount Fuji (D)
Meet at Tochomae Station for a briefing and transfer to Mount Fuji’s 5th Station. Begin climbing, arriving at the 8th Station for a hot meal and a few hours rest.
Day 2 Descent of Mount Fuji (B)
Wake at around 1.30am and continue your climb to the summit, arriving in time for sunrise and breakfast. Descend to Mount Fuji’s 5th Station, and your transfer back to Shinjuku Station.

Mount Koya

Mount Koya is the name of the mountains in Wakayama Prefecture, to the south of Osaka. It is the centre of Shingon Buddhism, an important Buddhist sect which was introduced to Japan in 805.

Day at leisure to uncover Kanazawa. Perhaps visit the renowned Kenrokuen Garden, marvel at the exhibits in the museum and experience the old Samurai houses.

Kumano Kodo Pilgrimage Route

This journey takes you along one of Japan’s ancient pilgrimage routes, the Kumano Kodo. Staying in Minshuku, visiting sacred sites and remote villages.
Day 1 Kawayu Onsen (D)
Take the train to Kii-Tanabe; receive an orientation briefing and catch a bus to Kawayu Onsen, for an overnight stay and dinner.
Day 2 Yunomine Onsen (BLD)
Your luggage will be transferred separately. Walk across Kumano Kodo Hosshinmon-oji as far as Kumano Hongu Taisha, visiting the heritage centre and Oyunohara. Continue from Hongu to Yunomine Onsen-Daichi-Goe, and overnight, with dinner, at Kosakaya.
Day 3 Katsuura Onsen (BD)
Your luggage will be transferred separately. Catch the bus to Hitari and a boat across the Kumano River. Visit Kumano Hayatama Taisha, move on to Shingu-Nachi-Daimonzaka Chusajo and walk to Kumano Nachi Taisha, visiting Seiganto-ji and Nachi Falls. Take the bus to Katsuura and stay at Yamane, where dinner will be served.
Day 4 Osaka (B)
Take the train from Katsuura to Shin-Osaka, for your onward journey.

Discover the Nakasendo Way, one of Japan’s ancient highways, connecting Kyoto and Tokyo during the Edo period. Explore the route along the Kiso Valley, uncovering some of the ancient post stations such as Tsumago and Magome.

Take the train from Narai to Nakatsugawa, and walk from Magomejyuku to Tsumagojyuku, about 9km, for an overnight stay at a Mishuku

Make your way to Nagiso Station, take the train to Nakatsugawa and on to Nagoya, for a bullet train to Kyoto.

Zenkoji and Snow Monkeys

A popular hot springs resort, Yudanaka is famous for the Snow Monkeys that live in the area. A special outdoor bath was built for the monkeys, who have become one of the most photographed sights in Japan. Yudanaka also has many temples and historic buildings to explore.
Day 1 Zenkoji Temple (LD)
Catch the Bullet train from Tokyo to Nagano, where you will be met by English speaking guide and taken by local bus to Togakushi, and the Soba Museum, for a tour and lunch. You can try “Soba Uchi “, making Japanese buckwheat noodles. Later visit the Togakushi Shrine, followed by a transfer to Nagano and local bus to Zenkoji Temple, founded in the 7th century. Stay at one of 30 temple lodges and experience a Monk’s dinner, Shojin-ryori, Buddhist cuisine or Japanese vegetarian dishes.
Day 2 Issano Komichi Biyu No Yado (BD)
Visit the Zenkoji Temple and take the train to Obuse, for a sightseeing tour of the small town known as “a little Kyoto”. Take the local train to Yudanaka. Upon arrival, there will be a free shuttle bus to your accommodation, ryokan with onsen, the Issano Komichi Biyu No Yado, where a Japanese dinner will be served.
Day 3 Snow Monkeys (B)
Visit “Snow Monkey Park (Yaen Koen)” by free transfer service of your accommodation. Then catch the local train to Nagano and bullet train to back to Tokyo.
