Many of these hotels that are part of recognised hotel chains, boutique properties with their own individual character and comfortable smaller lodgings. These properties will have en-suites, western beds and have good links with public transport.

Discover traditional hospitality with a stay in a Japanese Inn called a ryokan. You will learn about the traditional Japanese cultures including garden design, architecture and cooking. Many ryokans include a relaxing hot spring called an Onsen and at night you will get the chance to sleep on a futon. Modern beds are an option in some ryokans. Board basis can be taken as breakfast only or with dinner, with local cuisine served daily. To get the most from your experience during your stay at a ryokan we recommend including dinner with your first night’s stay.

This is a guest home type lodging. Minshukus are family-run bed and breakfast farmhouses, with the rented rooms being part of the owners’ own home. When you enter the precincts of Zenkoji Temple, the second building is Fuchinobo. It’s a guesthouse at the temple. So well-equipped that it doesn’t seem like a guesthouse at a temple. We will guide you when you offer prayers at Zenkoji Temple.
