Matsumoto

Matsumoto is the second largest city in Nagano Prefecture. Its most famous attraction, and one of the most beautiful in Japan, is the original Matsumoto castle. It was built in the Bunroku Period (1593-1594) and is one of Japan’s most historic and beautiful attractions. The city is also the perfect base for tours into the Japanese Alps. Matsumoto has plenty of good cafes and restaurants to choose, along with many traditional crafts.
