Experience Japan’s Range of Hotels

We offer a wide range of accommodation in Japan, allowing you to find the holiday most suitable to your budget and preferred experiences, encompassing what Japan has to offer. The western style hotels range from standard, superior and deluxe, and are located in the areas that are suitable for your tour.

A holiday to Japan is not complete without a stay in an authentic and traditional Japanese accommodation called a ryokan with a hot spring (onsen). Depending on your location, other authentic accommodation we can include are Minshuku (traditional guest house) and Shokubo (temple) lodging. We can accommodate solo travellers, couples and families alike, with the option to stay in standard, superior or deluxe accommodation.

Group Tour Accommodation

Most of our group tours are based on standard accommodation, a sample of which can be found on the individual tour pages. We select from a range of accommodation for our tours, the style of which can vary from one destination to the next. It is also worth noting that room sizes in Japan tend to be more compact, especially in the larger cities. Room upgrades can be requested at time of quotation. When staying in traditional Japanese ryokan, beds will usually be futon-style.

Western Style Hotels

A selection of standard, superior and deluxe hotels are offered with our group tours and tailor-made journeys. We provide western style hotels that are part of recognised hotel chains, boutique properties, with their own individual character, and comfortable smaller lodgings. These recommended properties will have an en-suite bath, provide western beds and have good links with public transport.

Standard (equivalent 3*)

Most of our tours are based on standard accommodation with the option to upgrade to Superior or Deluxe. Standard hotels, ideal for the leisure and business traveller, provide comfort with rooms being smaller than the superior and deluxe hotels.

Superior (equivalent 4*)

Depending on budget and personal requirements, most tour itineraries provide you with the opportunity to upgrade to this higher grade of hotel. Superior hotels offer additional facilities with rooms being larger than standard hotels.

Deluxe (equivalent 5*)

These are the very best hotels that Japan has to offer, with many being part of well known international chains. A selection of boutique properties, some that are unique to Japan, may also be available.

Mandarin Oriental Hotel, Tokyo Grand Prince Hotel, Hiroshima

Discover Japanese style hospitality during your time at a traditional Japanese Inn called a ryokan. During your stay at a ryokan you will learn about traditional Japanese culture including garden design, architecture and cooking. Many ryokans include a relaxing hot spring, and at night you will get the chance to sleep on a futon. Modern beds may be an option in some ryokans. Board basis can be taken as breakfast only or with dinner, with different local cuisine served daily. To get the most from your experience during your stay at a ryokan we recommend including dinner with your first night’s stay. The exterior of the ryokan may look modern, but the service is always traditional. To get a real flavour of the local culture an overnight stay in a ryokan is highly recommended during your holiday in Japan.
